What once stood strong no longer exist,
The pain and suffering must find an exit
Funny how words aren't suppose to hurt,
Unless it's I love you and a persons worth
The golden rule really never seems to apply,
I hurt, you hurt an eye for an eye
The true foundation lost to forestation
Memories of the heart suddenly forsaken
You do what you must, but only the best you can
Defined differently between a woman and a man
If you can forgive, but you can never forget
Then the problems run rampant without any rest
the tears build up and the pride can't take it
The what ifs cracks the tension and people tend to break
The eye ducts flood and the emotions appear
You can't support the levee's disaster is here
You put up a fight, with your will and your might
But the hurt is intense and rocks you "goodnight"
The solution is out there, though we're unaware
The first foot forward will make sure you get there
Matters of the heart is a matter for the people
How can we love each other if it always seems we're unequal?
